Cost-Share Program

A portion of the parks, soils and water sales tax is used for Missouri landowners to install soil and water conservation practices, which are available through the state cost-share program. These practices conserve soil, which consequently improves water quality by reducing sedimentation in our rivers and streams. The practices reduce soil erosion by a variety of methods that may include increasing crop residue, improving vegetation, diversion or containment of water to facilitate slower release, protection of streambank and forested areas from livestock and reduction of wind erosion.

The governor signed House Bill 250 on June 26, 2009, which allows water quality best management practices that have been so successfully implemented in the AgNPS SALT program to become available statewide. This has expanded the amount of conservation practices available in Missouri.
