Public Notice of Proposed 2008 303(d) List

Public Comments Accepted Until Jan. 16, 2009

The Missouri Department of Natural Resources published a proposed Missouri’s 303(d) List for public review and comment until Jan. 16.  The 303(d) list, which is required by the federal Clean Water Act, records those waters that are impaired by pollution where requirements are not yet in place to restore water quality.

The public may view copies of the proposed 2008 303(d) List and supporting documents on the department’s Web site.  If unable to access the information through the Web, individuals may request copies of the lists from the department’s Water Protection Program by calling 800-361-4827 or 573-751-1300.

The Missouri Clean Water Commission will hold a public hearing on the proposed list at 9 a.m. on Jan. 7 in the Lewis and Clark State Office Building, La Charrette Conference Room, 1101 Riverside Dr., Jefferson City.  The commission could approve the draft 2008 303(d) List as early as March 4.

The department will accept written comments on the proposed list until 5 p.m., Jan. 16, 2009.  The public can submit comments in writing to the Missouri Department of Natural Resources, Attention John Ford, Water Protection Program, P.O.
